Ox was twelve when his daddy taught him a very valuable lesson. He said that Ox wasn’t worth anything and people would never understand him. Then he left.

Ox was sixteen when he met the boy on the road, the boy who talked and talked and talked. Ox found out later the boy hadn’t spoken in almost two years before that day, and that the boy belonged to a family who had moved into the house at the end of the lane.

Ox was seventeen when he found out the boy’s secret, and it painted the world around him in colors of red and orange and violet, of Alpha and Beta and Omega.

Ox was twenty-three when murder came to town and tore a hole in his head and heart. The boy chased after the monster with revenge in his bloodred eyes, leaving Ox behind to pick up the pieces.

It’s been three years since that fateful day—and the boy is back. Except now he’s a man, and Ox can no longer ignore the song that howls between them.

Epic and Awesome and Amazing

I loved this book! It was so refreshing and unique. I loved Ox. I loved how he was always so strong even as a child. It really broke my heart when the kids were picking on him in school and he said one day when he has friends they wouldn't be mean :,( And then he found Joe! Joe joe joe. I loved them together and I loved his family. I loved how they all became a pack. I felt a wide range of emotions reading this. Happy laughter grief sadness anger relief love. I felt it all reading this. Joe and Ox were amazing. And I loved how realistic this book felt considering it has wolfs and witches. I loved all the emotions. I loved how Joe loved Ox from the first moment he saw him and remained by his side even though he had to see Ox with other ppl as they got older. I loved when they finally got together and was heartbroken when they were torn apart. I loved all the events that happened to Ox and how he grew. I'm glad he didn't easily forgive Joe when he came back but I'm so happy he tired and worked through it. The ending was great. I can't wait to read the next book! I need to see what happens with Mark and Gordon. This is a must read! Loved it <3

Tj klune usually makes me cry.

In a totally good way. I was in tears within the first few pages. Maybe I'm just an emotional mess. The book, like many of Klune's is pretty Epic. 😁

Pulled me in!

This was my first TJ Klune book but after reading it, I think I will have to read them all. He does an amazing job of making the setting extremely vivid as well as creating complex main characters that have a range of emotion at one time. I'm hoping for more of this story!
