Context Is Everything
There are some good things about the Xscape project but one of the things it lacked was context. For some reason the estate didn't think it necessary to highlight the history of the songs included. This book corrects that oversight. And what a history these songs have! Some being worked on on and off for 10 years. Culled from interviews with the people who actually worked with Michael Jackson recording, writing and arranging these songs we learn of the methods, hard work, talent and inventiveness it took to produce them. It's an invaluable resource that any MJ fan or fan of great music will enjoy and treasure. I just find it sad that we have to rely on fans to bring these stories out instead of the estate that is charged with preserving the legacy of this great artist and humanitarian.
