The village of Yelapa, Jalisco, Mexico has no roads into town with only a network of walking paths, for humans, horses n burros.
The population, around 3000, is nestled around the 7th largest bay and a tranquil beautiful beach, small cozy hotels, a local 150 foot waterfall and plenty of restaurants and scenery to keep your eyes and pallet content for the entirety of your visit.
What's New in Version 1.3
I have lived in this small (sleepy) Mexican fishing village, (which we also refer to as "a fishy little sleeping village") for the last twenty seven years, and its sights, sounds and scents are by now deeply a part of me. When I am unfortunate enough to be away from Yelapa as I sometimes must be, I go to Gary St. Martin's captivating pictographic recreation of the place to put me instantly back in the home I love.
The broad vistas and the out of the way spots he so wonderfully captures with his crystal clear camera work, settle me into the rustle of the thatch, the braying of the donkeys, the faces of my indigenous indian neighbors and their beautiful children, the blue corn taco, the one of a kind moonshine (raicilla), the life lived right.
St. Martin captures it all with his uncanny choices. I can almost hear the serpentine strains of ranchero music in the distance with the red headed woodpeckers beating counterpoint right outside my window.
