Many yoga teachers are great at teaching but struggle with the business of yoga. The Yogi Entrepreneur is a powerful guidebook for the thousands of aspiring yoga teachers around the world who have a passion for sharing their yoga but resist the business of teaching.
A must-read for any yoga instructor
With this book, Darren has created an invaluable tool for any yoga teacher. Having only recently finished my first teacher training, I've been nervous about how to start my career as a yoga instructor. This book has provided extremely useful information about the yoga business and what my next step should be. Key aspects of how to treat yoga as a business, a mindful business, are broken down into very concise sections and intermixed with yogi quotes and journal prompts. I felt like reading this gave me what I didn't get from my own teacher training and I feel much more confident and excited about starting to teach! I really enjoyed the chapter on how to market yourself and your classes without breaking the bank. Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest impression.
Lots of good questions and approaches to consider in your yoga business development
This book is full of important questions teachers should ask themselves as they begin to plan their next steps as teachers. It is practical advice and not overly dressed up. There is a lot to think about, but as Darren recommends, you just take each aspect of running a yoga business (or any business) one thing at a time. More than anything, it had me thinking more seriously and deeply about what types of people I am best suited to teaching and how to lean into those strengths. He packs in everything from financial management to what promos to offer new students to the ways to get jobs teaching, all with the idea in mind that the more you share the abundance and refer students to other trusted teachers and health practitioners, the more return you will see. It is a simple, but very good reminder. I'm working on honing my teaching voice at this point but I'll definitely turn back to it when planning my first retreat and when trying to amp up my marketing!

A Valuable Resource for ALL Yoga Professionals!
The Yogi Entrepreneur is an excellent reference for anyone considering, or actively pursuing, yoga teaching. It is also valuable for current teachers looking to increase class enrollment and/or take their marketing to the next level.
Darren covers many topics that aren’t necessarily the most glamorous parts of the profession (hello, taxes) yet are important pieces to the puzzle of becoming a successful yoga teacher. These are the practical tools that you don’t necessarily learn in teacher training; how to tackle to-do lists, social media, managing your finances, growing your brand, all while staying connected to the core fundamentals of yoga and why you started teaching in the first place. It’s good stuff. The Yogi Entrepreneur covers all of the bases, and is the ultimate checklist of what needs to be done to become a business savvy, well rounded, yoga professional.
I would recommend this book, not only for yoga teachers, but also for any wellness professional looking to find success in working for themselves.
