Hope and Help for Your Turbulent Times

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

You’ll get through this.

It won’t be painless.

It won’t be quick.

But God will use this mess for good.

Don’t be foolish or naïve.

But don’t despair either.

With God’s help, you’ll get through this.

You fear you won't make it through. We all do. We fear that the depression will never lift, the yelling will never stop, the pain will never leave. In the pits, surrounded by steep walls and aching reminders, we wonder: Will this gray sky ever brighten? This load ever lighten?

In You'll Get Through This, pastor and New York Times best-selling author, Max Lucado offers sweet assurance. "Deliverance is to the Bible what jazz music is to Mardi Gras: bold, brassy, and everywhere." Max reminds readers God doesn't promise that getting through trials will be quick or painless. It wasn't for Joseph--tossed in a pit by his brothers, sold into slavery, wrongfully imprisoned, forgotten and dismissed--but his Old Testament story is in the Bible for this reason: to teach us to trust God to trump evil.

With the compassion of a pastor, the heart of a storyteller, and the joy of one who has seen what God can do, Max explores the story of Joseph and the truth of Genesis 50:20. What Satan intends for evil, God redeems for good.

From Publishers Weekly

Jul 08, 2013 – Penning his 30th trade book of hope and inspiration, bestselling author Lucado (Grace: More than We Deserve, Greater than We Imagine) turns his attention to helping people get through illness, job loss, depression, financial woes, or any type of crisis, using the biblical story of Joseph of the-coat-of-many-colors fame. With chapter titles like Alone, but Not All Alone, Stupid Won t Fix Stupid, and Now, About Those Family Scandals and Scoundrels, Lucado narrates personal stories and those of people forced to find their way through various crises that he weaves together using a thread of Joseph s story and how the biblical figure remained steadfast in his faith in God through a number of difficult and unjust circumstances. Less fluffy than he can occasionally be, Lucado is solidly anchored in an appropriate biblical story that trumpets the lesson that there is a way through crisis, and God will use bad circumstances for good. This assurance is bolstered with helpful advice, practical applications, and other scripture verses that pave a path to perspective, survival, and strength on the other side of any crisis encountered.

Customer Reviews

We've all been through it...or will...Satan and his demons pounce, growl and set fire to what we have built, saved, or birthed. We see it clearly as evil winning over goodness. We are fed the lies...over and over again...God isn't here....God doesn't's God's will that you be defeated...Life isn't worth living...
Many of us have learned the Bible stories from early childhood. Jonah in the whale; David vs Goliath; Paul in shackles; Noah in the flood; Jesus, the sinless one, feeling forsaken as He hung dying. Why did God put these illustrations in the Bible? Max Lucado adds new perspective. One the world needs to know...
I've got at least 10 people who desperately need to read the first sample...and then in September...the whole book.

Please note: this review is based on the sample provided by the publisher and I tunes. The full book will be released in September.

Life Changer

God has used this book to emotionally and psychologically heal me, and I highly recommend it for every person in the world to read. You don't have to be going through a crisis to read it. It'll help prevent you from going through a crisis. God definitely guided Max during the writing of this. I was suffering terribly and looking for any help I could find, so I went to the Christian bookstore and God led me to this book. God knew what was best for me and now I share the good news.

What I love most is that the foundation of the whole book is from events in the Bible. Max uses God's story to help us (i.e. Max let's God heal us).

Excellent book!

I loved every chapter. Very encouraging
