Course Description

The iTunes U Third Grade Math course is a collection of digital resources for Oklahoma teachers implementing the new Oklahoma Academic Standards. Digital resources including lesson ideas, interactive games, videos, and iPad apps have been aligned to each standard.

There are five overarching strands of mathematics in this course. These include Number and Operations, Algebra Reasoning and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, and Data and Probability.  The standards are grouped to show integration of the concepts, and the aligned resources are intended to effectively support these curriculum sequences.

The performance expectations in this course are for students to compare and represent whole numbers up to 10,000 with an emphasis on place value and equality, add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers, multiply with factors up to 10, represent multiplication and division in various ways, solve real-world and mathematical problems through the representation of related operations, understand meanings and uses of fractions in real-world and mathematical situations, determine the value of a set of coins or bills, describe and create representations of numeric and geometric patterns, use number sentences involving multiplication and unknowns to represent and solve real-world and mathematical problems, use geometric attributes to describe and create shapes in various contexts, understand measurable attributes of real-world and mathematical objects using various tools, tell time to the nearest 5-minutes and solve problems, and summarize, construct, and analyze data.
