Course Description

This 3rd grade social studies course is designed to provide Oklahoma teachers digital resources to implement the new OAS standards.  Each standard has multiple digital resources including apps, tasks, i-books, as well as teacher preparation information and authentic tasks.

In the third grade, students begin a focused study of the state of Oklahoma. Students are introduced to selected Oklahomans who have been important in the development of the state, including Jim Thorpe, Bill Picket and Clara Luper. This in-depth study of Oklahoman’s creates an appreciation for the many people who have settled in Oklahoma. Students explore the major land forms and bodies of water found across the state. They also examine the historical landmarks and metropolitan centers. Local and state government, as well as state symbols and historical significance of past events are presented and explored. Finally, students explore the growth and prosperity of Oklahoma through use of its natural resources.
