This course material is only available in the iTunes U app on iPhone or iPad.

Course Description

Biology is a natural science concerned with the study of life and all living organisms. Study is focused around the structure, function, growth, origin, biodiversity, adaptations and distribution of living organisms. In general, biology recognizes the cell as the basic unit of life, genes as the basic unit of heredity, and natural selection as the engine that propels the synthesis and creation of new species. It is also understood that all the organisms survive by consuming and transforming energy and by regulating their internal environment to maintain a stable and vital condition known as homeostasis.

This course is designed to align with the Oklahoma State Standards for Biology. The standards are arranged in bundles based on the OK Framework to correspond to specific topics or concepts. The bundles are further broken down to categorize different learning strategies.

This course is meant to be used to easily access a variety of digital resources personally curated by biology teachers. Apps, videos, digital textbooks, websites and interactive activities have been researched and tested by the curating teachers. These resources can be used to supplement classroom resources and encourage engagement from students.

If you have any questions, see links that no longer work, have suggestions for new resources, or would like to contribute to this resource please contact the science content manager, Chanda Peters at schultz_c@woodwardps.net.
