PHSC 1014 is a course that satisfies the general education physical science requirement at Arkansas State University. Unlike the other courses that satisfy this requirement, this is not a survey course that covers a broad range of topics from the breadth of physical sciences. Instead, this course takes an in-depth look at energy and issues associated with it: what is it, how it is extracted from various sources, how can it be transferred into usable forms, what effects its usage has on the environment, and what is the projected use of it in the future. Students will be expected to compare energy sources and resources in terms of their environmental and economic impacts and to make qualitative and quantitative decisions based upon these comparisons.
This course is also different in that the laboratory section is integrated directly into the online section, with activities occurring online and in the field. The lab activities are based upon each student's individual lifestyle and will allow each person to make educated decisions about their own energy use. A major component of the lab is the performance of a home energy audit wherein students will develop a list of improvements that could be made to their dwelling in an economically feasible manner.
Newton’s Cradle puts physics in your hands. Using a real physics engine built on kinematics and momentum equations, Newton’s Cradle: Physics++ delivers a superior physics simulation.
Basic features include:
-3D Manipulation. View the Cradle from any angle.
-Pinch and Zoom. Get as close or as far as you like.
-Dynamic Lighting. Set the lighting as high or as low as you want.
-Artificial Gravity. Toggle use of accelerometers for gravity.
-Collision Elasticity. Adjust elasticity for a ridiculous bounce or a pathetic splat.

"An inventive use of video, animations, photos, and sound help the user go inside energy." – Chris Hauk, Mactrast.com
INSIDE ENERGY lets you explore interactive stories on innovation and the energy powering our lives. Discover new ways of finding energy, learn about advances in technology, and meet the people involved in making it happen. New stories and interactive features are regularly added.
This Shell app opens a window onto the creative ways energy can be produced, and used.
Find out, for example, how tiny threads of glass are helping to produce energy.
Meet students who have designed a car that travels a distance equivalent to going from Paris to Moscow on a single litre of fuel.
See inside the stove that is helping millions of the world’s poorest to breathe cleaner air, and hear from some of the people whose lives have improved.
