A study of the most important ideas in Continental philosophical speculation during the generations immediately after Immanuel Kant. Major figures include Hegel and his contemporaries, such a Fichte and Schelling, whose metaphysical theories exerted considerable influence on the Romantic movement and on the subsequent reaction against Germain Idealism by three key figures:  Karl Marx, S. Kierkegaard, and Friedrich Nietzsche.
