This course material is only available in the iTunes U app on iPhone or iPad.

Course Description

In all aspects of our lives we are surrounded by copyright. From the books we read to the movies we watch, from the emails we write to the presentations we create, copyright is everywhere. As an instructor, it is important to understand the role and limits of copyright law in the development of your own courses and teaching materials. Copyright in the Classroom will guide you through basic copyright principles and provide you with the knowledge and information needed to identify potential copyright concerns in the classroom, both as a creator and as a user of copyright protected works.

This course introduces essential copyright concepts for instructors. Topics include:
  • The basics of copyright law
  • Understanding your rights as a creator
  • Using third party materials in different teaching contexts: face-to-face, online courses, and MOOCs

Duration: You may complete this course at your own pace. If you cover one unit per week, you may complete this course in one month, but feel free to work faster or slower depending on your own schedule and needs.
