eSafety for Parents/Carers 2016/17

by Hove Park School

This course material is only available in the iTunes U app on iPhone or iPad.

Course Description

Every student has the right to feel safe, secure and happy. We believe that this should be the case at school, at home and online.

To stay safe and feel safe in a world of smartphones, unlimited broadband and social-networking our young people need clear messages about how to keep themselves and others safe. These messages about safe and unsafe situations and managing risk apply in all areas of our students' lives. These messages are delivered in school and reinforced in this course.

Embracing new technology allows students to develop twenty-first century skills in the classroom. The use of mobile technology enables students to enhance their learning through greater and more independent access to information and development of creative solutions.

Students need to learn and practice the resilience and safe behaviours that they will need to face the challenges of their time. This course brings together elements from Hove Park School and HP6's Tutoring and PSHE programmes as well as the expertise of other agencies including CEOP to ensure safe and sensible behaviours when using technology.
