Excellant Material

To this to all the lectures and think that he actually saying "ancient people are stupid" must have been listened to with some prejudice or pride in your own knowledge. In an early lecture he stated that is what many non-evangelical scholars hold to--that anciet people are stupid, thus things that happened could not have happened in thiat time period--this in defense to the documentart hypothesis. He obvously holds the opposite opinion--ancient people are not stupid.

He is funny in his remarks to attempt to get you to understand. He allows class interreaction, and presnts many thought provoking ideas, often stating some our his own.

This is an excellent class for those who desire a deeper understanding of the Old Testament.

funny dude

He does make the statement "Ancient people are stupid" multiple times but it is in a sarcastic tone. He's trying to show the class that ancient people are, in fact, not stupid and that we should remember that and put their actions into context in order to reveal the true story. He's a pretty funny guy honestly. I'd love to actually take one of his courses. He is very knowledgeable about most topics and explains things in simple terms.

Don't waste your time

This man does know his facts, but his lack of insight into the scriptures negates what he does know as does his prejudice. I found many statements unprofessional and bombastic. He says many times: "Ancient people were stupid!" I find such a remark unconscionable: we still can't make pyramids like Egypt!
