Introduction to Computing (CIS150 GVSU)

by Grand Valley State University

This course material is only available in the iTunes U app on iPhone or iPad.

Course Description

This course will introduce to you new computer skills, it will help you practice and solidify skills you already have, and it will fill gaps in your understanding of computers. Computer skills are a part of digital literacy, which will give you a significant advantage in your educational pursuits and in professional business career. The skills acquired in this course will be useful to you for years to come.

Literacy skills have always been important. In past centuries much communication was done via letter writing. Some time later the telegraph improved the efficiency of communication, only to be replaced by the telephone. Today we use text messaging, and other electronic means of communication, which are immediate and remind us of an entire new language, which some call “fingered speech”. Realizing the power of technology in our lives, will help you to make informed decisions about how and when to use it.
