Course Description

Freshman Humanities is a seminar style, interdisciplinary, discussion-intensive approach to the first year of World History. A humanities approach to learning offers an integrated and contemplative approach to history and literature. Classroom discussion is in large part devoted to historical, philosophical and literary reflection. The English component moves chronologically and thematically through World History in tandem with the social studies class. The history curriculum proceeds from primitive man and early civilizations to 18th century absolutism and the scientific revolution.
