Open Geometry 2nd Semester

by Zeeland Public Schools

This course material is only available in the iTunes U app on iPhone or iPad.

Course Description

The second semester Geometry course aims to give students a solid understanding of two and three dimensional geometric measurements. Students will learn to prove triangles are similar and use ratios to evaluate proportional relationships. This course also serves as a basic introduction to the three trigonometric functions; sine, cosine, and tangent - and their use in calculating measurements related to geometry.
Students will extend their knowledge of plane geometry to better understand solid geometry and how it is used to model the 3D world we live in. Formulas for surface area and volume of three dimensional figures will be formed and practiced. Students in this course will extend their understanding of circles and the angles formed by the lines intersecting them. Finally, this course concludes with a deeper look at rigid transformations in the coordinate plane.
