Excellent course

An excellent introductory music appreciation course. Dr. Muchnick is extremely knowledgable, and presents information in an entertaining and interesting way. She really makes you want to learn more, and to go out and experience more of the music. She explains musical concepts in an understandable way, and holds your attention throughout all of the lectures. There are are two small complaints I have about this course. First, the quality of the video is poor, very blurry. But this is not a huge deal since most of the information is gathered by listening. The second problem is that the music clips presented are only, at most, 2 measures long, which really gives you no concept of the entire piece the actual class just heard. A piano concerto clip was played that contained only orchestra, no part at all of the piano. If we had been allowed to hear the entire clips, I would've given the course 5 stars.

Thank you so much! Dr. Muchnick

Thank you so much! Dr. Muchnick! This is an amazing lecture. Though I'm not a music major or minor, I always have a passion for music. I was a pianist when I was young but I quit it for a long time. Then in college, I tried to regain my passion for music but I simply have too many mandatory courses to take so I only had a chance to take a singing class. I always want to take a music history class but it never fits in my schedule. Thank God I found this! I started it and then I couldn't stop. I am addicted to Dr. Muchnick's lecture! She is very passionate and knowledgeable. It expands not only my knowledge on music but also gives me a comprehensive understanding of human civilization! Thanks!

Very informative and interesting overall. Thank you for changing how I listen to classical music.
