The Arkansas Adolescent Literacy Intervention (AALI) Model is a research-validated methodology based on the Strategic Instruction Model (SIM) developed by Dr. Don Deshler and is a partnership between the Arkansas Department of Education and the University of Central Arkansas Mashburn Center for Learning. The Content Enhancement Routines (CER) are Tier I Interventions that support a rigorous core instruction. These routines assist teachers to more effectively and efficiently plan for student learning, using visual devices/graphic organizers. These routines also help learners understand more easily complex content increasing the likelihood of academic success. Learning Strategies (LS) are Tier II and III interventions that are designed to enable struggling learners, including those with disabilities, to be successful in a rigorous core instructional program.
