Description

Please download the handout entitled, “APA 2009: Writing in Style” and refer to this handout as you view the instructional video. The PowerPoint presentation shown during the session is also included for your reference. On the handout, I have outlined (and highlighted in yellow) the major items that I see as challenges in our (faculty and student) written work. I have included examples and explanations where appropriate. Most important, I have highlighted (in blue) the New in 2009 items that stand out for me. Due to the highlighting, I encourage you to print this handout on a color printer if you’d like a paper copy of this 11-page document. This handout is neither an exhaustive coverage of APA 2009 nor an exhaustive coverage of what’s new in 2009. It’s geared for about a 2.5 hr-session (exclusive of breather breaks needed for changing the tapes!) and, as you know, there’s only so much we can cover in a limited amount of time, allowing for audience questions and comments. If you purchased the July 2009 printing of the APA Manual, you might want to exchange that copy for a corrected version. The original printing (July 2009) contained several errors and the APA will exchange the incorrect copies for correct ones. Call this APA Customer Service number to proceed with your exchange: 1-800-374-2721. The handouts are not affected by the original July 2009 printing errors.
