The audacious claim of the Gospel is that in the Person of Jesus Christ, God in the flesh redeems, restores and renews all of creation from the curse of sin and death. Through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, His vindication through the resurrection, His giving of the Holy Spirit and His promise of His return all who entrust themselves to Him are transformed from the corruption of this world so that they may become “participants in the divine nature,” embodying and manifesting this God-life in the world around them. As the Church, transformed and being transformed by God’s grace we answer Jesus’ invitation to yield our entire selves in obedience to His love in order to be agents of that transformation, proclaiming His Kingdom on earth. It is to this end that this year’s Chapel theme focuses. “All Things Made New” is both an indicative proclamation and an imperative charge. The indicative is the witness to the complete and perfect work of God in Christ and the imperative is the call for individual and corporate transformation into the character and lifestyle of Jesus, made possible by the work of the Holy Spirit. Through chapels, ministries, discipleship groups, mission trips and special forums, we seek to create a space where the entire campus community is invited and challenged to live deeply the Kingdom reality of holiness; growing in spiritual intimacy with God and embodying His love through acts of charity and justice.
