Description

Effective communication skills are essential in the corporate world. From e-mail messages to oral and written reports, it is important to effectively communicate your message. This course provides writing skills and techniques to better communicate your ideas in business situations. You will learn how to write business information that informs, persuades, and builds goodwill; and you will write documents that are composed collaboratively. You will examine the various types of communication that are used in business, and you will gain practical experience writing and evaluating these materials. To help you facilitate learning these skills, this course includes podcasts. In order to get the most from your online learning experience, you must subscribe to and download the podcasts. The podcasts are video and audio files produced to supplement the course assignment packet, advance online lectures, and promote class discussions.

"Business Writinig"

Nearly finished with the first segment that I decided to watch, I was so bored by the dull voice that was simply reading things that I could easily have read for myself, I allowed my gaze to drift. Towards the logo my eyes fell and spotted the mistake. Although most likely a simple typing error, this mistake shows carelessness. I wouldn't expect much anyway, from a free lesson given by a subpar school, but if they cannot even take the time to check and fix the main graphic, they probably put very little effort into the podcasts as well.
The content itself I have not fully examined. I plan to watch more, but fear that it would put me at risk of learning the mistakes of the creators of this program. Generally, this podcast could not meet the already low expectations that I initially had.

Comprehensive and Great Efforts

I did a Power Search using the words of Business Writing, Business Communication, and I found a total of 16 courses. Of them, fewer than 10 are real courses about business communication. This course has more video podcasts than any other courses have. So i applaud the instructor's efforts in planning and creating these video podcasts and making them available in iTunes U. And i appreciate her sharing. I did learn quite a lot from watching the video.

I do not expect these podcasts to be Hollywood productions. I can live with an occasional mistake or two.

I am not sure why the previous person says the podcasts are from a "subpar school." On this day, in the Language Featured list, this school has three courses in the top 12. That is more than any other institution has. In other categories like Literature and Mathematics, this school has multiple courses in each of the Featured Lists as well.

I hope more faculty members will be creating podcasts and sharing them in public iTunes U like this instructor.

Writinig? Dont U evin hav spel chek?

Writinig !?!
That is hilarious. If the people who teach business writing can't be bothered to spell the title of their course, I have hope that we can take Wall Street down after all.
