Great course and professor
I only reserved the last star of 5 because of some missing time (unrecorded) and a lecture that was recorded very loud, in fact so distorted I couldn't wait until it was over. Also, there are many times where video or photos are shown to the class, and being audio, you can't participate.
Dr. Cross is engaging, provides excellent examples and is a joy to listen to (I love to hear English women speak). Curiously enough, psychologically, I think her accent made me pay more attention to her lectures.
I had a very basic understanding of BASIC psychology, having taken one course in a community college, and a bit of independant study. Also, being a skeptic, I'm familar with the ways we can fool ourselves. (I often say "The biggest, most believable lies we tell are to ourselves.") Pareidolia, cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias were covered in detail. She frequently conducts experiments with volunteer students in the lecture and makes some very interesting points to them (and us) that are predictable with psychology.
That being said, there was ample coverage of the physical brain and the psychological self, completing the picture of the psychology of the human animal as a physically, cognitively and emotionally influenced being. I leaned MUCH listening to it.
Highly recommended for introductory students, or those just interested in learning a bit about "how you tick".
If you're reading this, Dr. Cross, thanks for allowing me to audit your class. Well done.
