Description

The last fifty years of American history come alive in this twenty-six part series produced by Dr. Charles Errico that combines interviews, lectures from historic sites, film clips, still photos, and music. For baby boomers, each thirty minute episode will bring back memories of Howdy Doody, Sputnik, beatniks, the Beatles, and more. For younger viewers, the episodes offer an opportunity to learn about McCarthyism, the struggle for civil rights, Vietnam, Watergate, and the revolutionary advances in technology that put an American on the moon and brought the world to the brink of nuclear war.

Great Basic Overview

This course is a very good summary of American history, WWII+. Despite the fact that it's a tad out of date (was this filmed in the early 90's?), the basic concepts and people are all there. Speaking as someone rather ignorant of history, this course was and is a life-saver for political and historical understanding. The class videos include pictures and interviews and explanations that make American history personal and easy to understand, and the teacher is clearly well-educated. Thank you iTunes U, thank you Dr. Errico, and thank you Northern Virginia Community College!
