(PSYC 110) What do your dreams mean? Do men and women differ in the nature and intensity of their sexual desires? Can apes learn sign language? Why can’t we tickle ourselves? This course tries to answer these questions and many others, providing a comprehensive overview of the scientific study of thought and behavior. It explores topics such as perception, communication, learning, memory, decision-making, religion, persuasion, love, lust, hunger, art, fiction, and dreams. We will look at how these aspects of the mind develop in children, how they differ across people, how they are wired-up in the brain, and how they break down due to illness and injury. This class was recorded in Spring 2007.

Prof Bloom is the best as he uses psychology to teach us psychology

Which is why his course is so addictive!

Finally I have a better point of view

I am a long time student of the mind, unfortunately I wasn’t able to get the education I was thirsty for. I have Multiple Sclerosis which affects the brain in every possible way. I have been trying to learn everything about the disease and the ways it can effect me and my life. Most of the knowledge that I acquired over the years were combined in Professor Blooms Introduction Course. I can definitely see the way all the pieces fit into a coherent way to better understand how we do what we do in life. As a long time self taught student, through this course I was validated that I am on the right path in my reasoning. I hope that I can find more courses taught by Professor Bloom. I was captured by his personality and his ability to make the subject matter understandable as well as making you want seek a deeper understanding of the way the mind works.

Great Course!

After listening to all of the lectures in this course, I have a much better grasp of psychology and a better understanding of myself. Paul Bloom makes it interesting and entertaining at the same time. I now wish I would have went to Yale!
