Description

Speaking of Wickenden is a cell phone walking tour that shares stories of Fox Point, past and present. Produced by Brown University students in the course AMCV2652: Community Documentary and Storytelling and based on interviews with Fox Point residents and business owners, the audio tour highlights changes on Wickenden Street over time. Each audio stop captures central themes of importance to the neighborhood and may be listened to individually or all together for a broader history of the area. Drawing from more than 30 interviews, the many voices featured in Speaking of Wickenden present a multifaceted history that examines different ways events were experienced and are remembered. Look for our audio tour stops along Wickenden Street from Benefit to Ives streets, and use your own cell phone to listen to “Fox Pointers” sharing theirmemories of this unique neighborhood in Providence.
