Theatre and the Christian explores the intersections between the art of theatre and the Christian's call to faithful service. Readings drawn from the Bible, C.S. Lewis, Francis Schaeffer, Calvin Seerveld, Dale Savidge and more invite the student to think deeply about issues of faith that affect her work, and acts of creative expression that can impact her spiritual walk. The student writes and delivers an "apology for practice in the arts" at semester's end. The podcasts represent the thoughts of the Fall 2009 class and their instructor as we explore topics as diverse as the Bible speaks about Art, the Anti-Theatrical Bias, the dangers of labeling, the Incarnation as a typology for onstage performance, and the role of playwrighting in the Christian community.
