Description

The Center for Landscape Water Conservation has made available video tours of four area demonstration gardens. The tours are narrated by the curator of each garden who show homeowners how to make their own water-thrifty landscapes. Special thanks to Wynn Anderson, curator of the Chihuahuan Desert Garden at UTEP, Cheryl Garing, curator of the El Paso Desert Botanical Garden, Linda Poe, master gardener and designer of the Water-wise Demonstration Garden in Rio Rancho NM, Dan Smeal, curator of the Xeric Demonstration Garden in Farmington NM, and to the NMSU Media Productions group for filming, editing, and final production. We hope you enjoy the tours. As funding permits, we plan additional tours over the coming years. Please visit our site at www.xericenter.com to find out how to build your own low-water, low-maintenance landscape. The Center for Landscape Water Conservation is a project of the Urban Landscape Water Conservation Coordinating Committee (ULWCCC), whose mission is to develop water-wise landscape education and water management tools to serve the people of the Southwest US. The ULWCCC is a cooperative venture among NMSU, Texas AgriLife Extension at El Paso, UNM, UTEP, San Juan College, NM Office of the State Engineer, municipal water conservation coordinators, and private landscapers and the business community. The ULWCCC was formed by NMSU with the goal of coordinating applied research projects, and demonstration and outreach activities focused on water-wise landscaping in the Southwest. ULWCCC is comprised of interested individuals serving on a voluntary basis.
