Description
Voices of “Race” and Change is a series of audio programs featuring thoughtful, entertaining commentaries on race and ethnic relations since the Civil Rights Movement-era and excerpts from archival oral histories of baby boomers from a variety of European, African, Hispanic/Latino, and Asian backgrounds who talk candidly about their race relations experiences. The host is Dr. Kitty Oliver, an author, TV producer, and adjunct professor of oral history writing and race and ethnicity who directs the Race and Change Initiative in Florida Atlantic University’s School of Communication and Multimedia Studies. Stories are drawn from her integration experiences and her cross-cultural oral history archive housed in Special Collections at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center, the only one of its kind and scope in the country. Voices of “Race” and Change takes a creative approach to public dialogues on differences where the focus on personal experiences and how people change helps us move forward as a society as we search for solutions to social problems. Funded in part by the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. Email koliver@fau.edu or kittyo@kittyoliveronline.com
