Plot Summary

"One ring to rule them all. One ring to find them. One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them." -- J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings -- In the first part of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings, a shy young hobbit named Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood - "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "Everything is Illuminated") inherits a simple gold ring. He knows the ring has power, but not that he alone holds the secret to the survival -- or enslavement -- of the entire world. Now Frodo, accompanied by a wizard, an elf, a dwarf, two men and three loyal hobbit friends, must become the greatest hero the world has ever known to save the land and the people he loves. Also starring Academy Award-nominee Viggo Mortensen ("A History of Violence," "Eastern Promises"), Academy Award-nominee and Golden Globe- winner Ian McKellan ("X-Men," TV's "Rasputin"), Orlando Bloom ("Troy," "The Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy), Liv Tyler ("The Strangers" "The Incredible Hulk") and Academy Award and Golden Globe-winner Cate Blanchett ("Elizabeth," "The Aviator"). Customer Reviews

A nice thought, but...

I will not be purchasing this bundle. As much as I would like to, I already own all three movies, extended, in standard definition. I will not be paying for LOTR movies again until they are made available in HD and extended with iTunes extras. The bundle is a great value for those who don't already own the movies, but not for those who already own the films in another format.

NO HD AND NO EXTENDED CUT???

Lord of the Rings sets the standard for movie greatness. That being said, why is it being offered in standard definition? and i'm a tolkein fanatic....i want the extended cuts!!!

Shame on you apple.

I love this trilogy and waiting for HD Version since it announced. But studio showed its mean nature and released Theatrical cut.As if its not enough that studios are already squeezing money from us with Theatrical and Extended versions, apple trying to Con us by not releasing HD version simultaneously with Standard version.....Shame on you guys.

P.S My Rating is not for the movie but on the Release.
