About the Movie

When a celebrity homicide detective and a brash, young fire marshal race against time to stop a pair of publicity seeking murderers, a high-profile newscaster buys videotapes of the gruesome crimes--turning the killers into instant media stars. Now, just how far will society's most desperate people go in order to get their 15 Minutes of fame? Starring Academy Award and Golden Globe-winner Robert De Niro ("The Godfather, Part II," "Taxi Driver"), Edward Burns ("Saving Private Ryan," "Shes the One"), and Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner Kelsey Grammer ("X Men: The Last Stand," TV's "Frasier").

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: A clumsy urban thriller. – Mike Clark, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: A tiresome screed that purports to teach us a lesson about violence and the media even as it serves up much more than the minimum daily requirement of stabbings, bloody gunshot wounds and relentless stomach punches. – Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: There's a dynamite movie to be made about the collision -- and collusion -- of celebrity culture, violence, and media complicity. But the hot-button 15 Minutes isn't it. – Jay Carr, Boston Globe, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The filmmaker tries to eat his cake and have it as well, giving his audience ample servings of what we presumably want while slapping our wrists for it at the same time. – Jan Stuart, Newsday, Jun 24, 2010

Trite tripe

Surprising that so many prominent actors would agree to be associated with this drivel. A less-than-subtle message about media obsession and public approval of absolving the guilty in the name of justice is beat over the head of viewers of this movie.

80-90 trips around the sun is all most of us get. Don't waste a waking moment of that time on this assault on intellect.

15 minutes too long

Truly awful. Can somebody please stop DeNiro from ruining his legacy?
