Steven Spielberg directs this riotous farce depicting the hysteria of a cross section of Los Angeles citizens following the bombing of Pear Harbor. The film is loosely based on a true event in which a Japanese submarine surfaced off the California coast, setting off a brief wave of panic.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: It may possibly be that Mr. Spielberg has chosen gigantic size and unlimited quantity as his comedy method in the awareness that he has no gift whatsoever for small-scale comic conceits.
Rotten: Unworkable farce, it maybe, but it is also blessed with the buzz of brilliance.
make it buyable
Hay this is a classic, please make this movie buyable. i would love to Dl this movie to my ipod touch and keep it for as long as i want.
No Subtitles!!!! Beware
I rented this movie the other day to watch on a flight. If you haven't seen the movie, a large portion of it is in Japanese (and some German) and NONE of those scenes have any subtitles. I even turned on the Closed Captioning and nothing popped up. So, be warned, you may miss a lot of this movie if you rent it.
One of Spielberg's best...forget ET this is it!
