Mixed Bag

There are five short flims, and I have only seen 4 out of 5, so my review is based on those four.
Timecode - 3 out of 4 -
Comedy - Two parking lot security guards start to bond over an unexpected hobby the two of them have. It's sweet, but never feels schmaltzy. Really the punchline, and ending is what makes the film for me, and it did make me laugh so 3 out of 4.
Sing - 2 out of 4.
Comedy - Drama - A new middle school student joins a choir, but when it turns out not to be what she expects, she and her classmates are put into a conflict with their choir instructor. It's cute and fine, but nothing really memorable or signifigant about it. It's a movie your grandmother would like and smile, and think is cute, but really empty.
Silent Nights - 1 out of 4
Drama - An alturistic woman in denmark begins a relationship with an african refugee as he struggles to find a place for himself in his new home, will trying to still hold on and helphis family from his earlier life. This film hints at interesting ideas, with the main characters contrasting in the enivornment, but just ends up avoiding anything interesting for a lifetime movie that happens refugees in it. The characters are 1 note and exactly what you think are and the story is pretty generic as well. Both characters seem "doe eyed" and the film has the same naivety. Honestly what makes this film seem so bad and cliche is that its also being screened with Enemy Within, a much superior film dealing with similar subject matters/themes.
Enemy Within 4 out of 4
Drama -
This is the smartest film of the bunch and feels the most professional of them as well. The entire film focuses on one government official of france interviewing an arab while he applies for citizenship. It almost entirely takes place in two offices, at a desk, with each characer sitting, but what it lacks in scope, it makes up with in everything else. It feels like a David Mamet or Aaron Sorkin play and has the tension and pace to match. Where the other films felt like the authors/creators were only being superficial with their characters and stories and presented the situations as such, this was something that was intriguing and something that I didn't know or hadn't considered. The overall message of the film is a very subtle and leaves the viewer not feeling satisfied or catered to, like the others, but bothered by and left thinking about.
Overall, the collection of films were mixed. One good, one bad, two okay.

No Subtitles - Unwatchable

Purchased on Apple TV. There are no Subtitles. Unable to watch. Will be seeking refund.

Stay away.

Really?

Obviously you can watch Sing only if you purchase the entire category when I already purchased Silent Nights by itself... stop with the bs already!...tchuips
