Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The part of [Ms. Copeland's] story that "A Ballerina's Tale" reveals best is the role of a group of successful older black women who took her under their wings and helped her feel less alone. This ballerina's tale is also theirs. – Brian Seibert, New York Times, Oct 13, 2015

Rotten: A worthy story gets flat-footed treatment in Nelson George's portrait of ballerina Misty Copeland. – Scott Tobias, Variety, Oct 18, 2015

Fresh: A Ballerina's Tale is far from an exhaustive or even complete documentary, but George... captures the behind-the-scenes grit required of any great artist while also making it clear why this artist is more important than most. – Mary McNamara, Los Angeles Times, Feb 8, 2016

Fresh: In A Ballerina's Tale, director Nelson George paints a moving portrait of Copeland that underscores her triumphs over bodily and historical limitations. – Amy Brady, Village Voice, Oct 13, 2015

Amazing documentary

Amazing first hand account of history being made as it happens. Loved all of the achieved women of color that appeared to contribute to the telling of Ms. Copeland's story. A must see for any young dancer. Truly inspirational.

Rent only????

I would purchase this highly anticipated documentary right now but iTunes is only allowing a rental? I know my ballerina would want to watch it over and over but not for $6.99 each time. Please improve the options iTunes, Misty deserves better.

Wait to BUY!

Don’t waste your money and give it to iTunes, wait until it’s for sale, the documentary and Misty is unbelievable! Misty is PURE MAGIC! xx
