Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: This reworking of the 1969 erotic thriller La Piscine beautifully explores the difficulties of communication.
Fresh: "A Bigger Splash" takes four characters with strong needs, drops them into a single location and invites us to watch what happens. It's strange how compelling that can be.
Fresh: You watch "A Bigger Splash" mesmerized by its creamy surfaces and mildly antsy as to what, exactly, is going on.
Fresh: To speak or stay silent? Excess or restraint? Honesty or discretion? It's clear which is right and which is wrong, but "A Bigger Splash" manages to infuse even the most straightforward questions with vicariously alluring ambiguity.
Refreshing, beautifully executed, splendid acting, pleasure to watch
A Great Film of 2016
Featuring bravura performances from its top cast, A Bigger Splash is even much better than the little known cult film on which it is based. The story is fantastic, with plenty of tension and mystery that only continues to build throughout the movie, as well as plenty of gorgeous photography. Ralph Fiennes delivers a great performance while Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson are the real scene stealers. It's so far one of the greatest films of 2016 that has a few unexpected dark twists to offer. It's a sizzling drama that shouldn't be missed.
It was a good Movie - not quite 4 star
After 2 weeks I had trouble remembering what the film was about. It moved a little bit slow, but the backdrop was beautiful and the acting was very good.I gave it 4 stars anyway, but more like 3.5.
