About the Movie

Kelly is saving herself for marriage and following Christian Courtship, an alternative to dating where parents, in conjunction with God, search for their daughters' husbands. Kelly's own parents think courtship is crazy, so she enlists "spiritual parents" to find her husband. After living with her spiritual parents for seven years without finding a suitable mate, a promising suitor finally arrives on the scene. Now Kelly’s spiritual family must work together to determine if this is the one God has truly intended for her. Meanwhile, Kelly’s own parents try to convince her to return home, sure that continuing down the road of courtship will not lead to finding a spouse.

A Rare Find

This is a rare and fascinating look at one of the more unusual forms of courtship in our society. It seems like a custom more suited to an earlier age. At the beginning I was appalled that a gorgeous, capable, modern young woman like Kelly would give her future over to such an alien Christian subculture to find her life partner. But I found myself absolutely absorbed in her search and desperate for this vulnerable young woman to find the love of her life.

One of the highlights for me was an emotional scene between Kelly and her mother and stepfather who could not understand her decision either. They seemed eminently more sensible. But it is a tribute to the refusal of the film makers to be judgemental that by the end of the movie I even had sympathy for her totally inept guardian/matchmaker, Ron, who seems completely incapable of finding her a suitably religious suitor. A refreshing insight into how human beings try to negotiate their lives.

A courtship

I totally enjoyed this movie. It was engaging and drew me in to Kelly's life in a very unexpected way. I am not here to judge her way of choosing a suitable husband cause at this day and age both men and women are readily looking for hooking up without actually getting to know each other. At least Kelly is focusing on trusting her spirituality and waiting for the wright person with similar belief system to come to her. It is neither good or a bad way of choosing a partner, just is. Highly recommend it.

Unusual romantic comedy

This film plays like a romantic comedy, but it also looks at religion in a serious way. Very unexpected. Views in the film are controversial, but it doesn't matter if you agree with them or not because the film is relatable in so many ways. The main character is on a quest to find love - who doesn't relate to that?
