Plot Summary

Mark (Mark Doherty) is having a bad day. A struggling actor, he’s just been through the ordeal of yet another fruitless audition for a bit part in a movie. With his long-suffering girlfriend about to walk out and his landlord ready to evict him he’s only got his best mate Pierce (Dylan Moran) and their joint ambition of writing a career-breaking film to sustain him. Life’s not easy, but things are about to get worse…much worse, and then someone die and things get really bad. From IFC Films.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: No amount of sly, beguiling Irish charm can overcome the inherent stupidity of the lead characters or the increasingly not-funny-just-hopeless situations in which they find themselves. – Simon Foster, sbs.com.au, Aug 9, 2010

Fresh: The smarmily organic execution pivots upon unpredictable flourishes of postmodern reflexivity and quiet nods to the perplexing traditions of Irish storytelling. – Joseph Jon Lanthier, Slant Magazine, Feb 1, 2015

Fresh: If Mark and Pierce had been two people whose welfare I cared more deeply about, the film might have carried me for the duration. As it is, they were a bit like guests who stayed too long at dinner. – Paul Byrnes, Sydney Morning Herald, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: The epilogue leaves you feeling hollow and empty, but as a less-than-satisfying film concludes, you may also realise that this is entirely the point. – Dom Romeo, FILMINK (Australia), Jun 24, 2010
