About the Movie
It's a home run with this hilarious and beloved comedy, starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna. With baseball lineups and locker rooms left empty during World War II, the newly-founded All-American Girls Baseball League brought talented women to the big leagues—and brought fans to the stands. The indomitable Dottie Hinson (Davis) finds herself leading a rag tag group of players who end up winning over the heart of their has-been coach, Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks). Lori Petty, Rosie O’Donnell and Jon Lovitz round out the all-star roster. Based on the true story of the pioneering women who blazed the trail for generations of athletes.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: One of the year's most cheerful, most relaxed, most easily enjoyable comedies. It's a serious film that's lighter than air, a very funny movie that manages to score a few points for feminism in passing.
Rotten: From its jokey, one-note characters to its endless baseball montages, A League of Their Own is all flash, all surface: It's a great big trailer for itself.
Fresh: At her best, Marshall captures the camaraderie of these women in ways that rip the film out of its cliched roots.
Fresh: Energetic, full of goodwill and good feelings, it never quite attains the graceful nonchalance and self-confidence with which finely tuned athletes -- and comedies -- move and enchant us.
I love this movie! And I'm a huge Madonna fan, so this is one of my favorites.. the acting is great and the characters are fantastic. A must-see!!!

Fantastic Life Inspired Drama
There isn't a bad performance out of anyone in this movie, even Gena Davis and Tom Hanks.. (heheh). Madonna gives a fantastic performance in a supporting role (where she's best), and Lori Petty is incredibly Memorable, as well as Rosie O'Donnell and Jay... whatever his name is. Penny Marshall hit a home run with this classic that will entertain you with laughs and tears from start to finish.
