Plot Summary

A.C.O.D. follows Carter (Adam Scott), a seemingly well-adjusted Adult Child of Divorce. Having survived the madness of his parents’ (Richard Jenkins and Catherine O’Hara) divorce, Carter now has a successful career and supportive girlfriend (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). But when his younger brother (Clark Duke) gets engaged, Carter is forced to reunite his bitterly divorced parents and their new spouses (Amy Poehler and Ken Howard) for the wedding, causing the chaos of his childhood to return including his wacky therapist (Jane Lynch).

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Mr. Zicherman needs a better crew, some time with the Criterion Collection and a fresher story, one perhaps not plucked from his own life. – Manohla Dargis, New York Times, Oct 3, 2013

Rotten: A spotty comedy with a great cast and a catchy title that falls apart in the final third. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Oct 3, 2013

Fresh: The movie's messy, predictable, occasionally sitcom-shallow, but it's blessed with a cast of pro farceurs-including Amy Poehler and Jane Lynch-who put a spin on almost everything they do. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Oct 10, 2013

Fresh: Any movie starring these justly adored actors is likely to have its share of highlights and both are, indeed, delightful to watch. – Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News, Oct 3, 2013

Great movie don't listen to the haters this movie is amazing! Buy the movie!

Amazing cast, and they swing for the bleachers. But to no avail. It's plodding and uninspired in all other regards.

And... $14.99? With no option to rent? This happens all the time on iTunes now, terrible films with no option to rent. You just have to buy it. I won't again. This kind of thing makes me look elsewhere for entertainment. Wonder why piracy is a problem? Baffling.

My $5.99 rental fee will be spent better elsewhere... We both fell asleep within the first hour into the movie.
