About the Movie

A young reporter happens upon a series of gruesome murders tied to real estate mysteries, where entire rooms have been dismantled and pulled from their foundations. The fact that those rooms were the exact settings for heinous tragedies sets her and a hardboiled cop on a search for the unimaginable. The stakes go up when it suddenly becomes very personal in this stylized and increasingly horrifying modern-noir.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: A franchise-aspirational horror opus that takes too long establishing its premise, then peters out in a climactic jumble of scare-free digital effects. – Dennis Harvey, Variety, Dec 5, 2016

Rotten: The inexplicability of "Abattoir" keeps it engaging for a while, but by the time it hits the one-hour mark without anything even remotely exciting happening, even a horror connoisseur's patience will run thin. – Noel Murray, Los Angeles Times, Dec 8, 2016

Rotten: If you operate under the belief that you can learn as much, maybe even more, from bad movies as you can from good ones, this one is a master class in what not to do. – Brian Tallerico,, Dec 9, 2016

Fantastic Horror Flick

Loved it! Great set design and cast!

Surprising and confident

This isn't about jump scares and gore... it's well paced burn full of interesting characters that crescendos into a last act that is a terrifying visual feast.

Abattoir was an innovative and entertaining blend of film noir and horror. I was skeptical about this idea originally (I'm a huge fan of all things film noir) but wow I am so impressed. It had me giggling at the very bogart esc one liners and banter and then leaping onto a friend's lap for dear life the next. The acting was spectacular as was the composition and design. I would see it again in a heartbeat and highly reccomend!
