About the Movie

In this hilarious sci-fi comedy, ordinary schoolteacher Neil Clarke (Simon Pegg) is granted extraordinary powers by a group of space aliens (voiced by the Monty Python team) as a test to determine the fate of our planet. Co-starring Kate Beckinsale, and featuring the voice of Robin Williams as Neil’s canine companion, Absolutely Anything proves that with great power comes total irresponsibility!

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Decades in the making, Monty Python vet Terry Jones' lame sci-fi satire squanders the contributions of top comic talents - including the late Robin Williams. – Peter Debruge, Variety, Aug 12, 2015

Rotten: Absolutely Anything is a good idea but is executed poorly, with a lame take-home message about great power demanding great responsibility. – Stephen Dalton, Hollywood Reporter, May 8, 2017

Rotten: Ubiquitous British funnyman Simon Pegg in a crazy sci-fi lark directed by Terry Jones of Monty Python fame? Sounds like a match made in Heaven, yeah? Unfortunately, once this tale gets going it feels more like a match made in purgatory. – Jim Schembri, 3AW, Nov 23, 2015

Rotten: The worst film thus far of 2015, and so staggeringly terrible I can't imagine it being beaten to the bottom ... Lord knows how and why anyone agreed to make this script into a projected image, but a projected image is all that it is. – CJ Johnson, ABC Radio (Australia), Nov 22, 2015

Absolutely Anything

Kate Beckinsale is awesome in this comedy. Must have in your library.

It had the same energy, and feel of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. If you enjoyed that, you will likely enjoy this.
Now for some Nitpicking. Because I liked the movie. I Nitpick.
Neil (Simon Pegg) Was a Moron. I couldn't relate to his choices.
Kate Beckinsale (Catherine) Was a snob. There was no chemistry. She was just unlikable.
Rob Riggle (Grant) Was obvious, and a tool, which was the point. But he was so Cliche it was cringe.

Not that any of these flawed characters ruined the movie. I just feel they were boring, & Cliche. And Neil especially was a tool. In his position, I would have been curious as to the source of the power, and sought out info on that source. He just ignored it, & took it for granted. And then made the same lame mistakes over, and over again, which, granted was amusing. His Dog was smarter than he was. Which was the point I suppose.

The Aliens were brilliant. & that Twist. I actually did not see that coming. John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin. All fantastic choices in lending their voices to the rolls.

The movie was so bad, It was great.

The Special Affects were Top Notch as well.

As always, I disagree with the Critics at Rotten Tomatoes. No Surprise there. I found this movie, ReFreshing! :P
