About the Movie
ADVENTURES OF JOJO is pretty much every daydream every seven-year-old kid ever had. EVER. There’s adventure, danger, comedy, and candy. A six-year-old boy named Jojo wakes up from a car crash deep in the woods. He reluctantly pulls his baby sister Avila from the wreckage, plops her into his backpack, and together they try to make it home alive. Armed with just a pocketknife and a little bit of faith, they find themselves battling hobos, wolves, and raging rivers along the way.If you’re an overprotective parent, this film may make you squirm. But if you’re a child or a child at heart, Jojo and Avila will take you on the incredible journey you’ve been waiting for.
It reminds me of kids movies when i was a kid
This had me and my kids on the edge of their seats the whole time. From a baby hanging off a cliff, to rolling down the hill in barrels, it reminded me of THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY if you switched the dogs with toddlers instead. Great fun.
Amazing Family Film
I first saw this film in 2015 at the Green Bay Film Festival. Since then, we have seen it twice at other film screenings, and purchased Blue-Ray copies for ourselves and for our daughter Avila's grandparents.
That's right, we loved Avila so much, that we named our daughter after her!
But anyway, on to the film, this is a fantastic story about a little boy that, when faced with tragedy, takes matters into his own hands. Through JoJo’s newfound independence, we get to experience many truths about life:
Don’t Judge a book by its cover,
Everyone second-guesses their own abilities,
Although you may be reluctant, you should always support your family, and they will support you as well
Kids shouldn’t play with matches, knives, lighters, or bear traps,
God works in mysterious ways,
These are just a few of the many teachable moments that are explored in this “Huck Finn esque” tale that takes you over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house. We laughed, we cried, we laughed until we cried, and we offered tribute to the whimsical sense of humor throughout this film with our own little Avila.
