About the Movie
In one of the most harrowing true stories of World War II, three US Navy airmen crash land their torpedo bomber in the South Pacific and find themselves on a tiny life raft, surrounded by open ocean. No food. No water. No hope of rescue. Against incredible odds, these three virtual strangers must survive storms, sharks, starvation – and each other – as they try to sail more than a thousand miles to safety.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: A groaningly tedious survival story that will at least leave you with a renewed commitment to wearing sunscreen.
Fresh: All three actors turn in solid, committed performances despite physically limiting surroundings, even as you're left with the inescapable feeling that this raft has sailed.
Fresh: Director Brian Falk, who co-wrote the script with Mark David Keegan, worked well with cinematographer Petr Cikhart to keep the story visually interesting, despite the limitations placed on the tale by the monotonous setting.
I haven’t seen a great WWII movie like this in a long time. Very inspiring and the actors all pull off amazing performances. I recommend this movie.
3 fantastic performances that are real, touching, and moving. I’m not a huge historical fiction viewer, but I was engaged the entire movie, and was pulled into the lives of all three characters. The fact that it’s a true story of human perseverance makes it even more compelling. A great film!
Definitely a worthwhile film, very inspiring
While I wasn’t sure what to expect with a non-theater release, I was pleasantly surprised. The production was very high quality. They clearly made an extra effort to ensure historical accuracy. The opening scene with the newsreel made me groan when the narrator discussed the USS Enterprise while showing footage of the USS Lexington and USS Ranger (typical errors in newsreels), the actual movie was spot on in so many little details. The acting was top notch, as good as any top-billed movie (and better than most) with sincere portrayals. This is a survival story and much of the drama is the mental struggle to keep the will to survive in spite of incredible odds and the ever-present backstory of recriminations. I’ve already watched it twice and I will certainly watch it again this weekend. Yes, the movie was that good.
