Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: What a handsome empty shell of a movie Allied is. Despite the star power of Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, their scenes together fail to ignite even a glimmer of a spark. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Nov 25, 2016

Fresh: Its story and dialogue are so straightforward and comforting that even when you think you can hear the next beat coming-and you will-the finale still comes as a cathartic surprise. – Stephanie Zacharek, TIME Magazine, Nov 25, 2016

Rotten: Zemeckis's formidably staunch and precise technique, itself a nostalgic vestige of classic Hollywood movies, seals up the movie's joints and keeps the air of life out; it's a suffocated, lifeless adventure. – Richard Brody, New Yorker, Dec 1, 2016

Fresh: Zemeckis is a master of the big, broad Oscar-bait drama, and he makes the most of a well-constructed screenplay by Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things, Eastern Promises) – J. R. Jones, Chicago Reader, Dec 1, 2016

Boring

I quit watching after 35 minutes. Do not make my mistake and buy this boring movie.

Uninvolving

Severve lack of tension for what was supposed to be a spy movie. I didn't feel particularly involved in the story or characters and therefore there was no suspense. The first part of the movie was interesting but it was a very elaborate plot to assassinate the nobody Nazi governor of Morocco. It is explained except the explanation doesn't make sense from a British point of view. Pitt tends to pose and looks too 21st Century despite the costumes. I thought Cotillard did a wonderful job. 3 stars.

Excellent

An excellent movie with excellent acting telling an excellent story.
