About the Movie

A quiet night on the outskirts of a small town in Maine is interrupted when Seth (Graham Skipper) witnesses his best friend Mark (Ethier) vanish in a brilliant flash of blue light. Two years later, Seth is still dealing with the fallout from the freaky incident, amid local suspicion that he is to blame for his friend's disappearance. When a string of grisly murders disrupts the community, Seth believes Mark has returned. Together with Mark's ex-girlfriend Jen (Vanessa Leigh), he races to find out if their friend is responsible — or if something beyond their understanding is unfolding before them. Almost Human is a horror film that delivers the splatter, drawing from many of the touchstones of cinematic shock for a refreshingly intense thriller bound to excite a new generation of moviegoers.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: This project ... has clearly diverted too much of its small budget toward special effects. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Feb 25, 2014

Rotten: While the cast and crew's competence well exceed what anyone would expect from this breed of B movies, they cannot compensate for the flawed internal logic in the screenplay. – Martin Tsai, Los Angeles Times, Feb 20, 2014

I Can't Believe I Rented This Steaming Pile

Bad acting and a plot lifted from Stephen King's reject story files. The only thing I can say was there was some nudity but the gore screwed that up. Terrible, unoriginal, and why the hell did I pay $6.99?!

An beautiful homage to 80’s horror films...

For those who know and love this genre, this is as good as it gets these days. It’s well- written, well-directed, and well-acted. The special effects are genuine to the era without the CGI overload of current “horror” films. A GREAT way to spend an hour and a half!

Despite a few good practical effects, this movie is very amateur. Not worth your movie, especially $6.99.
