Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Part thriller, part character study, and it moves swiftly and confidently, with many details that feel exactly right.
Fresh: The screenplay, written by first-time director Nicholas Jarecki, keeps us guessing, which is one of the best compliments one can pay to a movie of this sort.
Fresh: This isn't very effective as a thriller, though it's a provocative fable about our ambivalent feelings toward financial elites.
Fresh: A tight thriller that shows [its] handsome star in fine form as a morally bankrupt financier playing fast and loose with ethics and the law.
Awesome! I worked on Wall Street. These people are real. This is what some of them look like especially the accountants and people who lend money and work for the boss. Gere gives an Oscar worthy performance. Cannot believe this is an original screenplay. It's amazing! Love Nate Parker, Brit marling, Susan and Tim!
Terrific acting by all!
I really loved the great ensemble acting in this film. They all are so good. They're really comfortable in the skin of their characters.
Gere is terrifying good - as an audience member I found myself sucked in by his character's plight. Wait a minute - I'm rooting for a Wall Streeter "to get away with it"?
Yes - he's THAT good. I think he'll be a strong contender in this year's award races.
As will Nate Parker - who goes toe to toe with Gere without blinking once. Really strong performance.
Overall, I loved the film.
This movie has excellent cinematography. What a compelling performance by Richard Gere. I love his lack of moral charecter. Well done Nick Jarecki
