Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Assassin's Creed mistakenly assumes that the plot is the most important element of its source material. Actually, it's the least. – Darren Franich, Entertainment Weekly, Dec 23, 2016

Rotten: Fassbender, one of the producers, and Cotillard head a lavishly wasted cast. ... All score bonus points for keeping a straight face throughout. – Mark Feeney, Boston Globe, Dec 22, 2016

Rotten: In the game-to-film genre - which includes such memorable disasters as "Silent Hill" and "Hitman 47" - this is yet another disorganized, incoherent, nearly unwatchable entry. – Rafer Guzman, Newsday, Dec 22, 2016

Rotten: Obtuse, narratively incoherent, and ultimately frustrating, it stands as another example of how hard it is to make a good mainstream movie out of a popular computer game. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Dec 22, 2016

Don't Listen to the Critics

Just finished seeing Assassin's Creed in the theaters and to say that my expectations were subverted is an understatement. There isn't much you can expect from a property based on a video game series based on past examples but Assassin's Creed is the first to get it right. This is the Iron Man of video game movies and should be the standard for the genre going forward. From the casual movie goer to the hardcore lore fans, there is much to love here. Do yourself a favor, check this one out. You will not be disappointed.
