About the Movie
Filmmaker and omnivore John Papola, together with his vegetarian wife Lisa, offer up a timely and refreshingly unbiased look at how farm animals are raised for our consumption. With unprecedented access to large-scale conventional farms, Papola asks the tough questions behind every hamburger, glass of milk and baby-back rib. What he discovers are not heartless industrialists, but America’s farmers — real people who, along with him, are grappling with the moral dimensions of farming animals for food.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Persuasively putting a face on the meals most of America consumes regularly without coming across as a sanctimonious expose, "At the Fork" serves up an even-handed perspective on the subject of eating ethically.
Fresh: A deeply personal and moving exploration given ballast by copious input from experts.
What a relief! Not upsetting, very empowering!
I was worried that this movie would be hard to stomach (pun-intended), but that wasn't case. It's a beautiful, sensitive, and ultimately empowering look at all of the complexities of raising animals for food. Take it from this animal lover and meat eater -- well worth it!
Gorgeous cinematography, relatable characters, and shockingly-unbiased. I'm amazed at how open the farmers were -- kudos to the filmmakers for creating an environment for intimate and honest conversation!
A beautifully balanced film
I felt this film to be a beautifully balanced look at where our food really comes from (at least the meaty portion of our food). Unlike the shock and awe films that are prevalent in this genre, "At the Fork" feels truly different in that it shows (virtually) no death and avoids the usual finger pointing. It is beautifully directed and shot (thanks to the great film makers, who are also characters woven into the story) Lisa Versaci and John Papola, with the help of fellow producers and Exec Producer Dave Matthews. It does well as a platform for differing views from many experts at the heart of the industry, including some entertaining and fascinating real life characters. I love it!
