Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: August Rush will not be for everyone, but it works if you surrender to its lilting and unabashedly sentimental tale of evocative music and visual poetry. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Nov 23, 2007

Rotten: August Rush feels like the cinematic equivalent of being stuffed with fruitcake and doused with a gallon of egg nog. – Carina Chocano, Los Angeles Times, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: [An] inane musical melodrama. – Pam Grady, San Francisco Chronicle, Nov 24, 2007

Rotten: It would be nice to say this predictable fantasy has such a big heart, we can forgive its excesses. But director Kirsten Sheridan overplays nearly every already-corny scene. – Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News, Jul 7, 2010

August Rush was good... but had better expectations

Being this is the first movie I was in (I was one of the child musicians who lived with the wizard), I was hoping this movie would be amazing. It was alright. Still good, still emotional, but just not as good as I hoped. Mostly due to the writing. A little cheesey. But the overall message was good and I loved getting to see myself on the silver screen. Getting to work with Robin and Freddie for a week on this movie was also amazing. Both so professional

the only really good actor in it is keri russel

Worth the price of admission

The only reason this movie didn't recieve five stars is because I often don't give such high praise to films but this deserves it in my opinion. This movie is a heart felt cornicopia of sounds and the amazing human spirit that most movies lack nowadays. August reminds us that hope and love do exist and that if you just believe in the unbelievable than any wish can come true. A Must See...
