About the Movie
Five old VW camper vans. Four bands. Three thousand miles. Two weeks. One gloriously backwards tour. The adventure starts after a fire-fuelled final night at Austin's SXSW Music Festival, where the bands (Ben Howard, The Staves, Nathaniel Rateliff, Bear's Den) pile into their rides and head northeast. They play everywhere from bars to barns, rooms to rooftops, packing out tiny venues and wowing crowds with their unique sounds. But heavy rainstorms, multiple breakdowns, and cramped conditions remind them that to push through sometimes you need to pull together. Featuring Mumford & Sons' Ben Lovett and narrated by Gill Landry this documentary is about a modern tour, done the old fashioned way.
Exceptional in every way
It is a beautiful and raw portrayal of true artists that love music. Awesome filming and editing. Highly recommended if you love these artists or if you respect real and meaningful storytelling.
Austin to Boston- what touring should always be like
This is absolutely lovely. The musicians are so talented. Ben Howard and crew are especially special.
45 minute music video
Saw this on netflix and thought it was a documentary. Just an extended music video with all the 'live' music sounds either edited in from albums or studio post processed. It has the spontaneity of a jello mold salad. The effects look like someone just got a new video effects generator and had to try it out. A few scenes of stoners waxing poetic(ish) about life on the road is not supported with any grit or passion in the video. The musicians are awesome tho
