About the Movie
5 nuns in the West Bank have their daily routine of silence disrupted when a Jewish family comes knocking at their door for help.
I was glued to my seat when I first watched this short film. I enjoyed every second of it and enjoyed the messages hidden in the story. It also very funny at the same time. I'm not surprised it's nominated for an Oscar!
Out of the five Oscar-nominated shorts, I’m not positive this should win, but it’s certainly the funniest of the five. The plot involves Israeli Jews whose car breaks down in the occupied territories, where they are assisted by a group of nuns who are presently observing a vow of silence. I don’t know if there are hidden messages in the story, but it’s an amusing depiction of how political circumstances can create practical difficulties.
